Exporting from HydroSym to HydroMan

While you can start from scratch in HydroMan, we recommend using a schematic from HydroSym. This way, you can take advantage of HydroMan's error-checking features, which will save time and minimize mistakes in manifold design.

Before exporting: Key setup steps

✅ Use an I-border

The I-border defines the manifold’s boundaries. Only components inside or touching the I-border will be exported.

✅ Use components, not symbols

Symbols are purely visual—they don’t contain the data HydroMan needs. Instead, use components, which define cavities and holes for proper data export.

✅Assign main and subgroup colors

Each connection must have a unique subgroup color. These colors help HydroMan verify connectivity and identify errors.

How to export your schematic to HydroMan

  1. Right-click the I-border and select

    I-border > Create HydroMan File

    – or –

Click the HydroMan icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  2. HydroSym will automatically check for errors, like disconnected lines in a subgroup. Resolve any issues before continuing.

In the pop-up window, choose how you'd like to proceed:

    • Start from scratch – uses HydroMan's default settings
    • Use a template – apply predefined styles and settings
    • Update an existing file – ideal for modifying an existing design (e.g. adding a valve)

You can also define your thread type during this step.

  3. When ready, click OK.

If HydroMan is open, your file will launch directly. If not, you’ll be prompted to open it manually. No prompt? Save the file and open it directly in HydroMan.
