Starting a new schematic
(To start a new schematic, navigate to File > New > New Schematic Diagram.
You can also choose File > New > New (Ctrl + N), after which a pop-up window appears, allowing you to select the template you want to work with. If you have no templates saved, the default HydroSym template settings will apply.)
Starting a new schematic diagram is easy. All you need to do is select a component from the Library and insert it onto your blank canvas. There are a few different ways to do this:
- Browse the Library by manufacturer and select the components you need.
- Use the search bar to locate a component in the Library Preview Window — the first four characters of a manufacturer's code will do.
Once you've located your desired component, select it, and drag and release to insert into the canvas.
At this point, an item number request pops up. If you don't like this option, deselect the option "Ask for Item Number when inserting components". This disables the option.
If you prefer to keep the option active, but don't want to insert Item Numbers this time, press cancel, and the component comes up in blue.
Move your mouse to select a position, and if needed, press the spacebar to rotate the component 90 degrees. Left click to secure the component in place. If needed, move your mouse to repeat as many times as needed and left click to secure again.
Once you're done, right click to disconnect the component from your mouse.
